High speed fibre optics internet
Originally limited to low bit rate 4G, we upgraded to a 1 gigabit fibre optic connection, matching speeds found in large cities. This upgrade supports both guest needs and our own work. Next steps: expand WiFi coverage and create designated no-WiFi zones to encourage offline interaction.
Our starting point was basic: a patchy and slow 4G mobile connection, barely enough for email and unsuitable for modern work or guest needs. The goal was simple but ambitious: get true high-speed internet to serve ourselves and guests, ensuring video calls, streaming, and remote work all run smoothly without frustrating slowdowns.
Fortune favoured us: a new fibre optic network was installed in our area. We connected directly, securing a 1 gigabit internet connection faster than what we used to have back in the Netherlands. This huge upgrade has made it possible to work online without concern for bandwidth, and guests can comfortably stream or join video meetings without issue. The core connection is distributed across the property via a central WiFi router.
Looking ahead, we plan to add multiple WiFi repeaters to improve coverage, reaching further corners of the property and ensuring consistent speeds everywhere guests might want to work or relax online. At the same time, we want to deliberately design no-WiFi zones where guests can disconnect, relax, and socialize face-to-face without digital distractions, balancing modern connectivity with real-world connection.
