At the heart of our project is a simple idea: modern comfort doesn’t have to come at the expense of nature. We started with empty rooms, leaky tanks, depleted soil, and no infrastructure. Step by step, we built apartments ready for every season, renewable heating and power systems, high-speed internet, and spaces where creativity and learning can flourish.
The bigger picture
Making the decision to quit both our jobs, sell our house and give away most of our stuff was (obviously) not an easy decision. It is one thing to dream of migrating to another country but 'gut turning' to actually do it. Was it and is it an easy journey? Absolutely not! Did we maybe regret it? Not for a second!
Our eco-tourism approach goes beyond offering a place to sleep. It’s about living systems: regenerating soil with grazing animals, producing our own food in market gardens and food forests, and capturing rain and sun to meet our water and energy needs. It’s about building spaces, co-working areas, maker labs, and future repair cafés where guests and locals can meet, share skills, and build ideas together.
We believe real sustainability means working with what you have, inviting others to join, and always keeping the system open for improvement. By mixing high tech, low tech, and old-fashioned cooperation, we want to show how rural places can thrive in the modern world, without losing their soul.
